CANDY RED NIGHTMARE Chapter 1 'A Strange Dream'

CHAPTER 1

Karkat was surrounded by a pitch, black darkness. His eyes were just as black -- they were like a black, endless void of nothingness. All he heard was deep and insane whispers of juggalos. He couldn’t speak, it felt like something was stuck in his throat to prevent any noise from escaping. He tried to scream, but only coughed up his candy red blood. It dripped from his mouth as he tried to move, but it felt like something was holding him tightly in place. Slowly, he reached out towards the nothingness, as bloody, candy-red tears  trickled down his cheeks from his black hollow eyes.

Suddenly, chains came flying out of nowhere and latched around his body. He didn’t bother to struggle, as they barely tightened with each passing second, but still he tried to shriek and found himself unable. He was floating in the pitch black void of darkness, wrapped in chains, for what seemed like eternity... until  out of nowhere, he saw the face of the Grand HighBlood appearing before him. It roared, but Karkat didn’t do a thing, staying as still as possible...

 Karkat suddenly woke up, screaming in terror on the floor in his hive. He was wide-eyed, looked very scared, and was also shaking a bit. Karkat stood up, his back hunched over. He panted and immediately sobbed.

It was dark outside, so he went out, heading to the Ectobiology lab. When he arrived, all of the trolls immediately turned to him, and stared -- Karkat looked mortified. Terezi was grinned when she realized he was there. She giggled, and he walked over to her. Karkat crossed his arms and looked straight at her. “Terezi...” he said to her. She responded with a simple “Hmm?”

 “Would you forgive me, if I did anything too fuckin’ stupid?” He asked this with concern, and seemed somewhat frightened. Terezi burst out laughing.
“Of course I would, Karkles! No matter how ‘stupid’ it is, I’ll always forgive you for your actions, I promise,” she responded kindly, smiling widely. Karkat faintly smiled, and nodded. “Why do you ask, though?” Terezi questioned, slightly confused. “No reason...” Karkat responded quietly before walking off with his head lowered and arms crossed.

“Hey best friend!” Gamzee called out to Karkat in a happy manner and walked over to him. “What is it...?” Karkat replied, eager to get away from everyone. Gamzee honked. “Want a nice motherfucking Faygo?” Gamzee asked, smiling and holding out a strawberry flavored bottle of the soda. Karkat only shook his head and walked away. Gamzee frowned bit and watched him.

Seeming upset by that action, Nepeta leaped in front of Karkat immediately, holding out a sketchy drawing of him. “I made this fur you Kark-” Nepeta began to say cheerfully, but was cut off by Karkat’s yelling.

“Shut the fuck up!! I don’t need your shitty art! Just leave me be, I’ve been through enough in my life!!” He was enraged because he was sick of everyone bothering him. Tears began streaming from Nepeta’s eyes as she whimpered softly. She started hiccuping, and then burst out wailing. As she ran off, bawling her eyes out, Karkat rolled his eyes and went on his way by going to the center of the lab and teleporting out by the transportalizer.

Karkat was walking all by himself through a hallway somewhere in the Ectobiology Lab. It was quiet, and cool. He rubbed his arms, getting chills around his body. “F-Fuck...” he said quietly to himself as it suddenly started getting even colder. He lowered his head and shuddered -- he had no idea why the temperature had suddenly changed so much.

All of a sudden, a “swish-like” sound moved past him. He flinched and his eyes widened as he stopped walking. Something was behind him, standing there. He turned, and was startled by what was there -- it was a troll that looked similar to Karkat, except for the fact that he was taller, was wearing a red sweater, black overalls, black and white sneakers, and square reading glasses

“Who the fuck are you?!” Karkat shouted at the strange troll. “Language now, young one. If you must know, I am Kankri Vantas,” he responded, as he smiled. Karkat growled under his breath and stomped his foot, giving an irritated expression to the mysterious troll called Kankri. Kankri began walking around him in circles. “You are about to meet with a terrible fate, aren’t you?” Kankri asked, smiling even wider.

 “What the fuck is that suppose to mean?!” Karkat hissed.

“You’ll find out eventually,” Kankri replied. “You are just too stubborn to see your own fate.”

 “I don’t give a fuck!” Karkat shrieked with rage. “I don’t have to put up with your bullshit, fuckass!!” These enraged words only made Kankri grin. He walked off towards the darker end of the hallway. “HEY!” Karkat yelled out, trying to follow the other troll, only to be met with a bleak and black darkness. Kankri had already vanished away.

“Where the fuck did you go?!” Karkat yelled out once again. His voice echoed, but then there was only dead silence...

 Suddenly, he heard footsteps. Quickly, Karkat ran out of the darkness, only to bump into Gamzee. They both fell down on their behinds. Gamzee immediately stood back up after falling down. “Karbro, what happened?” Gamzee asked. “I heard you motherfucking yelling.” He seemed worried. “Nothing....” Karkat responded softly as he crossed his arms again and turned his head away. Gamzee immediately helped his moirail up. “C’mon bro, you can motherfuckin’ tell me anything, honk.” Gamzee said to the grouchy troll. Karkat shook his head while biting his bottom lip. He was already too irritated to say anything. Gamzee began to worry about him, then scooped him up in his arms.

“HEY! Put me down fuckass!!” Karkat shrieked with rage as he squirmed.

Gamzee ignored what he had said and walked off with the enraged Karkat.

Gamzee had arrived at Karkat’s hive, and sat the troll down on his two feet. Karkat sprinted into his hive as soon as Gamzee let him go. Gamzee walked away from Karkat’s hive, still seeming worried and upset about his moirail. Karkat watched him leave from the window of his hive, then turned around. He sat down on the floor and hugged his legs. “What is happening...?” Karkat asked himself quietly. He suddenly fell to his side and became unconscious.

Karkat woke up in what appeared to be a barren wasteland. The sky was cloudy and orangish-red, with the planet Earth and the two moons visible. “W- where am I?!” Karkat yelled out as he panicked. The Signless was walking towards him, his hood covering his eyes and his flesh visible and burnt around his wrists. Karkat wanted to move, but it felt like something was holding his legs tightly. “I can’t fucking move!!” He screamed, clenching his teeth together as his eyes widened. He started to freak out as the Signless got closer.

As the Signless finally approached him, Karkat immediately stood still and stared up at him. The Signless revealed his eyes -- they were black and his irises were blood red -- his pupils were even slit. Karkat was horrified. “Wh-What are you?!” he asked with fear.

“I am merely suffering, I am just a feeble spirit... you are suffering as well...” the Signless responded with an inhuman and weak voice. Karkat nodded gently, as he started to remember how he built his life in judgement and pain with his team. “Destroy what destroys you... you’ll feel a whole lot better, trust me...” the Signless said to the troll as he smiled widely. The sky started to become darker as rain began to pour, and the Signless placed his right hand over his right eye as it began to bleed carmine red blood. “Trust me...” he whispered weakly, and smiled even wider. He disappeared suddenly, as soon as lightning flashed.

Karkat gasped when he vanished, and wanted all of this to stop! Tears fell from his eyes as he started to remember what he had been going through. He shut his eyes tightly and waited for something to happen.

Karkat woke up on the floor of his hive. He was wide-eyed and completely frightened, and stood up on his feet, shakened.

“What’s with these fucking weird DREAMS?!” he loudly said to himself. He ran outside of his hive, and then stopped in place, bending over and beginning to pant as if he was tired from running so much. Then, he fell over onto his side and began groaning. Karkat shut his eyes tightly, as he had a sudden headache and stomachache. He tried to hold in his screams so no one would hear him, and he started sweating, his eyes watering. Finally, he let out a loud scream as the pain started to get worse. Karkat wasn’t seen for several days after that.
